The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is generally your first step in the process of becoming a professional licensed engineer (PE). It is designed for recent graduates and students who are close to finishing an undergraduate engineering degree from an EAC/ABET-accredited program. The FE exam is a computer-based exam administered year-round at NCEES-approved Pearson VUE test centers. Online Professional Engineering Exam Review Course
An Online Civil Engineering PE Exam Review Course has been developed through a collaboration between Engineering Online, the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at NC State, and the Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE).
This series has been constructed as a series of 22 lectures on pertinent topics for the PE Exam. Course instructors include Dr. Jim Nau (Structural Engineering) and Dr. Mike Leming (Construction Engineering) from the CE Department; Dr. Phil Lambe (Geotechnical Engineering), Mr. Russell Briggs (Water Resources and Environmental), and former ITRE Associate Director Mr. Robert Foyle (Transportation Engineering).
Recent PE review classes offered by ITRE have resulted in an 84% pass rate for first-time test takers compared to the national pass rate of 65%.
