MSE 710 Elements of Crystallography and Diffraction

Crystal symmetry, lattices and space groups; elementary diffraction by crystalline matter; experimental methods of x-ray diffraction.

Prerequisite

MSE 500 Modern Concepts in Materials Science

Course Objectives

Students will develop and in-depth understanding of three-dimensional crystalline lattices, point groups and space groups; elementary diffraction by solid-state materials, with an emphasis on diffraction from crystalline structures; experimental methods of x-ray diffraction.
