CE 403/503 Highway Design

3 Credit Hours

Corridor selection; highway alignment; design of roadsides, intersections and interchanges. Completion of research paper for students taking course for graduate credit. Credit will not be given for both CE 403 and CE 503.

Prerequisite

C- or better in CE 305 Traffic Engineering.

Course Objectives

After completing this course, students will be able to identify relevant design controls for highway design aspects. With these design controls, students will be able to specify a desirable horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, and cross-section for a highway or a street on new or existing right-of-way.
